Boeing India to open its largest facility outside the US in Bengaluru

The new Boeing India facility would be built on 43 acres in the Aerospace Park at Devanahalli, close to Kempegowda International Airport.

With an estimated expenditure of Rs 1600 crore, this will be Boeing's largest location outside of the United States. To increase its yearly sourcing from India, Boeing India has set a target of Rs 10,000 crore, up from the current Rs 8000 crore.

Following Air India's definitive order of over 200 jets from Boeing, including 20 787 Dreamliners, 10 777Xs, and 190 737 MAX narrowbody aircraft, Boeing stated earlier this year that it will invest $100 million in infrastructure and programs to train pilots in India.

Since the Kempegowda International Airport is so close, and since the Blue metro line (KR Pura - Yelahanka - KIA) was approved in April 2021, the area of Devanahalli in northern Bengaluru is quickly becoming the city's epicenter. As a result of all of these changes, the local job market has expanded, driving up housing demand and ultimately convincing Boeing to establish its largest headquarters in the area.

Field service offices in Mumbai, Hindan, Rajali, and New Delhi complement Boeing's headquarters in Delhi and the rapidly expanding Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) in Bengaluru and Chennai.
