Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin before the BRICS Summit in Kazan showcased a dedication to peace and cooperation. Modi stressed the importance of peaceful conflict resolutions, especially concerning Russia-Ukraine relations. Their meeting highlighted the strong ties between India and Russia, with Modi lauding the progress made in various sectors. Both leaders emphasized the need for peace, with Modi expressing India's unwavering support for stability. This interaction builds on the enduring partnership between the two nations, exemplified by Modi's visit to Moscow and the ongoing expansion of BRICS to include new members, underlining the group's increasing global significance.



In a display of diplomatic warmth and commitment to peace, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in fruitful bilateral discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of the BRICS Summit 2024 in Kazan.

 

During their meeting, PM Modi underscored the significance of peaceful resolutions in global conflicts, particularly emphasizing the need for peace between Russia and Ukraine. Expressing the strong bond between India and Russia, he highlighted the recent strides in cooperation between the two nations, stating, "Our Annual Summit in Moscow in July has strengthened our cooperation in every field." Modi's frequent engagements with Putin signify the deep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership shared by India and Russia.

 

Addressing the pressing issue of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, PM Modi reiterated his stance on peaceful conflict resolution, stating, "We believe that problems should be resolved in a peaceful manner. India fully supports the early establishment of peace and stability, prioritizing humanity in all our endeavors." He also extended India's unwavering support and readiness to offer cooperation in the future.

 

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception received, Modi conveyed his appreciation for Putin's friendship and hospitality. He also expressed delight at the prospect of attending the BRICS Summit in the picturesque city of Kazan, emphasizing the historical ties between India and the region. Furthermore, the inauguration of India's new consulate in Kazan was highlighted as a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations.

 

In response, Russian President Putin expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for accepting the invitation to the BRICS Summit, recalling their productive discussions during previous meetings. The stage is set for further collaborations as the leaders anticipate engaging in discussions and participating in the Summit's inaugural ceremony.

 

The interaction between the two leaders builds upon the longstanding partnership between India and Russia, exemplified by PM Modi's visit to Moscow in July for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit. During this visit, Modi was honored with Russia's highest civilian award, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, symbolizing the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

 

The BRICS platform, established in 2006 with Brazil, Russia, India, and China, has evolved over the years to include South Africa in 2010, becoming BRICS. In a significant development in 2024, BRICS welcomed five new members - Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, signifying the growing relevance and global appeal of the grouping.
