Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expected to add $967 billion to the Indian economy by 2035 and about $450-$500 billion to India’s GDP by 2025, accounting for 10 per cent of the country’s $5-trillion GDP target. In this regard, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has set up seven working groups to collectively brainstorm on the vision, objectives, outcomes and design for each of IndiaAI pillars. MeitY also made these reports public last week.
IndiaAI Centres of Excellence (CoE) · Three CoEs to be set up in top educational institutions with government funding for five years.
· Research to be undertaken on computer vision, robotics, machine learning, NLP, etc.
· Each CoE will be expected to be 50 per cent self-supporting within three years and 100 per cent self-sufficient within five years.
Institutional Capacity and Design Of NDMO · National Data Management Office (NDMO) to be set up under Article 73 as an executive regulator under supervision of MeitY.
· To govern data collection, management, processing, storage and accessing processes and systems.
· NDMO to be set up as per the propose 18-month roadmap.
