In November, Pune couple Anil Narasipuram and Shruti Nair sealed their marriage on blockchain. An image of the bride's engagement ring was used to create an NFT (non-fungible token). It also had the couple's wedding vows embedded in it. The NFT is now stored in the Ethereum blockchain’s decentralised database, and it is impossible to edit, modify, or delete it.
New age technologies are seeping into every aspect of our lives. Words like blockchain and NFTs, WNS group CEO Keshav Murugesh said, are becoming centrestage, and technology is becoming social and fun. “When that happens, over a period of time, it will scale and will become the way you do business,” he told us last week at the Times Techies webinar in association with Nasscom.
This is happening not just in India, but across the world. And it's the reason why many believe the coming decade will be a "techadeone where technology is central to life and business. And why many think India's strength in technology and its vast technology talent pool will enable it to shape the decade.
