According to a poll undertaken by the CAIT research arm, this year is likely to set a new high for the wedding industry, with an estimated 35 lakh marriages and a business of roughly Rs 4.25 lakh crore.
Retailers in Delhi and throughout the country are getting ready for the first wave of the wedding season, which runs from November 23 to December 15.
It is estimated that over 3.5 million weddings would take place in Delhi this season, resulting in a revenue of over Rs 1 lakh crore in the city. The same time period last year saw 32 lakh weddings, with costs estimated at Rs 3.75 lakh crore, according to B C Bhartia, National President, CAIT.
According to CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, over the course of the wedding season's 23 days, about 6 lakh marriages will have an anticipated spend of Rs 3 lakh each wedding, while over 10 lakh weddings will have an average cost of over Rs 6 lakh per wedding. "Around 12 lakh weddings will cost about Rs 10 lakh per wedding, 6 lakh weddings will cost Rs 25 lakh per wedding, 50,000 weddings will have Rs 50 lakh expenditure and 50,000 weddings will have a budget of Rs 1 crore or more."
Beginning around the middle of January and continuing all the way through July, it's wedding season again!
"Business owners all around the country have been getting ready for wedding season for months. To prepare for a probable influx of clients, merchants are keeping their arrangements current. Bhartia cited statistics showing that just 20% of wedding costs are allocated to the bridegroom, with the remaining 80% going to various third parties involved in the ceremony.
All around India, especially in Delhi, banquet halls, hotels, open lawns, community centers, public parks, farm houses, and other venues are set up and ready for weddings, according to Khandelwal.
Tent decorators, flower decorators, crockery, catering services, transportation services, taxi services, welcoming professional groups, vegetable sellers, photographers, videographers, band-baja, shehnai, orchestra, DJ, horses for the procession, wagons, lights, and many other service providers stand to make a killing this wedding season.
