Indians were granted the most number of German Work Visas in 2022

According to the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, 17,379 work permits were issued to Indians last year. In comparison to 2021, Germany issued 152,336 national work visas to foreigners in 2022, a substantial rise.

The German Consulate General in Bangalore issued 8,613 work visas out of the total number of visas given to Indian citizens. The German Consulate General in Mumbai (3,013) issued the second-highest number of work visas for Indian citizens, followed by the Consulate General in Chennai (2,483), the German Embassy in New Delhi (2,434), and the German Consulate in Kolkata (836).

The second-largest recipients of work visas from Germany are citizens of Turkey, who are followed by Bosnians, Kosovars, Russians, Albanians, and North Macedonians.

This occurs at a time when the German cabinet on Wednesday approved a draft measure to relax citizenship laws in the hopes that a quicker path to German nationality could draw qualified immigrants to fill the persistent labor shortages impeding Europe's largest economy.

A large backlog of pending citizenship applications in Germany has caused some administrative components to start groaning, according to some experts who warn that progress might be delayed.

Final official figures showed that Germany's GDP again contracted in the second quarter, adding to the gloomy picture as the nation struggles with an industrial slump and persistent inflation.

Complete data from the federal statistics office Destatis show that the largest economy in Europe experienced zero growth from April to June compared to the prior quarter.

The reading was consistent with preliminary data published last month and matched the prediction of analysts polled by financial data provider FactSet.

Germany officially emerged from a downturn that it entered before the turn of the year when the economy shrank for two consecutive quarters, which is the precise definition of a recession, by recording flat growth.

In 2022, Germany issued 71,018 national study visas and 71,129 national visas for spouse reunification.
