Lord Hanuman is official mascot of Asian Athletics Championships in Thailand

Lord Hanuman, one of India's most revered deities, will serve as the official mascot for the Asian Athletics Championships beginning here on Wednesday. On the 50th anniversary of the founding of the continental governing body, this event will take place.

"As Hanuman demonstrates extraordinary abilities in (Lord) Rama's service, such as speed, strength, courage, and wisdom... Hanuman's greatest ability is, in fact, his incredibly unwavering loyalty and devotion," the Asian Athletics Association stated on its website.

"The logo for the 25th Asian Athletics Championships in 2023 represents the athletes participating in the games, their abilities, their teamwork, a display of athleticism, their dedication, and their sportsmanship."

India, led by the shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor and the long jumper Murali Sreeshankar, would aim for a strong performance at the Championships.

The Indian team departed Delhi and Bengaluru for the five-day Asian Athletics Championships on Saturday night.
