Majority of Indians give thumbs up to Modi govt's performance over last 5 years: Opinion poll


About 80 percent of the respondents said they were “somewhat to very satisfied” with the performance of the BJP-led central government, says Opinion poll.


Most Indians are satisfied with the performance of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government over the last five years, News18's Mega Opinion Poll has revealed.


The survey, India's biggest opinion poll, covers a sample size of over 1.18 lakh eligible voters across 21 states and different demographic backgrounds.


According to the survey, about 80 percent of the respondents said they were “somewhat to very satisfied” with the performance of the BJP-led central government.


Around 10 per cent of the individuals said they were “neither satisfied nor dissatisfied” while five percent said they were “somewhat dissatisfied". Only four percent of the respondents said they were “very dissatisfied” with the Modi government.


The respondents were aged between 18 and 66 plus years. Of these 1,18,616 respondents, 64,453 were men and 54,163 were women.


Performance of sitting MPs

Meanwhile, 40 percent of the respondents were “very satisfied” and 24 percent were “somewhat satisfied” with the sitting MPs of their respective Lok Sabha constituencies. Only 7 percent were “very dissatisfied” and 11 percent were “somewhat dissatisfied”. Also, 17 percent were neither “satisfied nor dissatisfied” with their MPs.


The election to elect 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha is scheduled to be held in April-May this year. The election will be held in multiple phases across the country. PM Modi is eyeing his third consecutive term.


Modi’s promise for third term

The PM recently outlined his vision for a potential third term. According to him, it will strengthen the foundation for a developed India.


“The third term of our government is not far away. Some people call it Modi 3.0. Modi 3.0 will put all its might to strengthen the foundation of Viksit Bharat (developed India),” the PM said while speaking in the Rajya Sabha as part of his reply to the debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s address. His also said his third term will write a new chapter in the rise of women power.


The PM has already chalked out a plan for the next five years to work on the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision if the NDA forms a government after the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi aims at turning India into a developed nation by 2047, exactly 100 years after gaining Independence from the British rule.
