Nvidia CEO, Jensen Huang, and Reliance Industries are embarking on a transformative journey to bolster India's AI landscape. The collaboration aims to construct cutting-edge AI infrastructure in the country, marking a significant stride towards technological advancement.

Remembering his first encounter with Narendra Modi six years ago, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said he was surprised when the Prime Minister asked him to address his cabinet about artificial intelligence (AI).

“It was literally the first time any government leader, any national leader, asked me to address his cabinet on this particular topic. It was long before anybody was talking about Artificial Intelligence,” said Huang. “The ability to program AI is something that everyone can do. And if AI could be put into the hands of every citizen, it would elevate and put into the hands of everyone. This incredible capability you and I get the benefit from called computers. And this computer could now benefit everybody in society. PM Modi explained that back to me,” he said.

During discussions with RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani, Huang expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting India's vast population and pool of talented computer engineers.

"This is an excellent opportunity for India to have a large population and a large population of computer engineers. This is such an extraordinary time. I am honoured and privileged to get to partner with you for this," Huang told RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani.

"Apart from the US and China, India has the best digital connectivity infrastructure," said Ambani during a conversation with Jensen Huang in Mumbai.

"In just one year's time, by the end of this year, we will have nearly 20 times more compute capacities here in India than just a little over a year ago," Huang added, referring to the infrastructure for computing.

"India is very, very dear to the world's computer industry, central to the IT industry, at the centre and core of the IT of just about every single company in the world. Nvidia's ecosystem in India is very rich; 2024 will see a a 20 times growth in compute capacities in India," "India exported software; in the future, India will export AI," Huang said.

Ambani echoed the sentiment, praising India's robust digital connectivity infrastructure, positioning the nation as a key player in the global tech arena.

Ambani said India is “very fortunate to have a visionary leader who believes not only in vision but in execution”.  “The Prime Minister and I believe that his leadership in terms of converting India to a premier digital society has been vital and continues to drive activity at the ground level. So, it’s demography, it’s leadership,”

The partnership between Reliance and Nvidia signifies a pivotal moment for India's technological evolution. Huang emphasized the exponential growth in compute capacities within the country, underlining the rapid progress in computing infrastructure.

Ambani commended Nvidia's expertise in AI infrastructure, drawing parallels with the telecom sector's transformation by Jio. He also lauded Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg for his contributions to AI technology, foreseeing a bright future for India as an AI exporter.

Huang's vision for India extends beyond producing CEOs; he envisions the nation as a hub for AI services. Reflecting on a conversation with PM Narendra Modi about AI, Huang emphasized India's potential to lead in AI innovation and exportation.

At the Nvidia AI Summit 2024, Huang reiterated the company's commitment to India, noting the country's integral role in the global tech landscape. He emphasized India's emerging prominence in AI exportation, heralding a new era where the nation transitions from software production to AI leadership.
