Prime Minister Internship Scheme: Over 90,800 Opportunities from 193 Companies Await Applicants

More than 90,800 internship opportunities from 193 companies are available on the Prime Minister Internship Scheme portal. Companies like Jubilant Foodworks and Reliance Industries offer diverse career paths. The scheme, with an Rs 800 crore budget, plans to benefit 1.25 lakh candidates starting December 2. These opportunities span 24 sectors and 20 fields, with geographic coverage across 737 districts. The scheme aims to provide internships and financial support to one crore candidates aged 21-24 over five years.



Over 90,800 exciting internship opportunities have already been unveiled by a whopping 193 companies on the Prime Minister Internship Scheme portal, setting the stage for aspiring applicants as registrations kick off from October 12. Among the esteemed companies participating in this initiative are Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motor, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Muthoot Finance, and Reliance Industries, showcasing a broad spectrum of career pathways.

 

This digital platform opened its doors on October 3 to welcome companies eager to offer enriching internships to budding talents.

 

The much-anticipated pilot project of this scheme, with an estimated budget of approximately Rs 800 crore, is scheduled to launch internships on December 2. This ambitious endeavor aims to benefit around 1.25 lakh candidates within the current fiscal year ending in March 2025.

 

Sources within the corporate affairs ministry revealed that the number of available opportunities skyrocketed to an impressive 90,849 by October 11, demonstrating the widespread interest and participation from various sectors.

 

These diverse opportunities span across 24 different sectors, with a significant presence in industries like oil, gas & energy, travel & hospitality, automotive, and banking and financial services, among others.


According to insiders, these openings encompass over 20 distinct fields, encompassing crucial areas such as operations management, production & manufacturing, maintenance, sales & marketing, and more.


 Geographically, these opportunities are accessible across a vast landscape, covering 737 districts distributed among 36 States and Union Territories, ensuring widespread reach and inclusivity.

 

The inception of this scheme, as announced in the Union Budget 2024, heralds a transformative era in internships and skill development, facilitated by the user-friendly online portal 'www.pminternship.mca.gov.in,' meticulously crafted by the corporate affairs ministry.

 

With a bold vision to provide internships to one crore candidates aged between 21-24 years over the course of five years, this initiative promises not just financial support but also valuable learning experiences. Interns stand to receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 for a year alongside a one-time grant of Rs 6,000, underscoring the government's commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering a culture of growth and opportunity.
