Prime Minister Modi Advocates for Inclusive and Responsible Technology at the G7 Summit


Prime Minister Modi's address at the G7 Summit emphasized the need for inclusive, transparent, and responsible technology to empower the Global South. He advocated for ending tech monopolies, leveraging AI for universal progress, and promoting climate initiatives like Mission LiFE, showcasing India's commitment to sustainable and equitable development.



In a powerful address at the Outreach session of the G7 summit in Italy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India has called for an end to monopolies in technology and emphasized the need for technology to be creative and lay the foundation for an inclusive society.

 

Underscoring India's role as a responsible global leader, PM Modi highlighted the plight of the Global South, noting that these countries are bearing the brunt of global uncertainties and tensions. He reiterated India's commitment to bringing the priorities and concerns of the Global South, particularly Africa, to the world stage.


"Countries of the Global South are bearing the brunt of global uncertainties and tensions," said PM Modi, showcasing India's steadfast dedication to amplifying the voices of the developing world.

 

Addressing the vital role of technology in shaping the future, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of a human-centric approach. "It is important that AI remain transparent, secure, accessible and responsible," he emphasized, underscoring India's vision for technology that serves the greater good.

 

PM Modi also highlighted India's achievements in leveraging digital technology for public service delivery, underscoring the country's unwavering commitment to ensuring that technological advancements benefit all segments of society.

 

Regarding India's AI Mission, centered on "AI for All," the Prime Minister stressed that artificial intelligence should aim to foster progress and well-being universally. He also highlighted India's role as a founding member of the Global Partnership for AI, promoting international cooperation in this field.


Addressing the critical issue of climate change, Prime Minister Modi outlined India's energy transition strategy, emphasizing the principles of availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability. He reiterated India's commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070 and encouraged global participation in initiatives like Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and the "Plant4Mother" (Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam) tree plantation campaign.

 

"It is our resolve to build a developed India by 2047; our commitment is that no section of society should be left behind," the Prime Minister declared, showcasing India's ambitious vision for inclusive development.

 

India's participation in the G7 Summit as an Outreach Country marks a significant milestone, underscoring the country's growing global influence and its dedication to shaping a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
