When Indian Pavilion celebrated the 159th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand at Dubai Expo 2020 this week, a large group of representatives from various communities living in UAE witnessed it. Children, mainly of Indian original, performed and spread the messages of Swami Vivekanand.
That there is shift of paradigm is true. Indian government has been taking multiple initiatives that make global Indians proud. The world now knows more Indian leaders who deserved to be read and known. That is evident from the fact that almost all India mission abroad are celebrating Vivekanand Jayanti this week. The world community, mainly people of India origin, now know more hidden Indian gems. For example, the birthday of noted Indian philosopher Deep Dayal Upadhyay is celebrated now worldwide as Antyodaya Diwas. The fact that 23 of 38 Indian Cultural Center abroad are named after Swami Vivekanand reflects the respect for our greatest Youth Icon for the nation. In my recent conversation with Sri Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, the president of Indian Council for Cultural Relation shared the plans to establishing more such centers worldwide including in Gulf countries.
Not many years ago, the political and academic nexus in India had set up a completely different narrative of great Indian leaders and Icons. People abroad could relate India with just one to two families and one Surname. A political will power is exactly what was required to restore our glory and present the Correct and unbiased picture of our Gurus and leaders. This is not only to give the justice to the late leaders but more importantly to benefit the society at large to take inspirations and act accordingly. In this series of attempt, the first outdoor statue of Swami Vivekananda was unveiled in 2021 at harrow Art Centre London to commemorate Swamiji’s arrival to England 125 years ago. It would be relevant here to mention and remind that while London was cheering for Vivekananda and embracing the learnings, Dubai celebrated Vivekanand Jayanti at world's largest Exhibition - Dubai Expo; intolerance of some intellectually bankrupts and urban Naxals in prestigious JNU in the heart of Delhi was exposed when they vandalized the statue of Swami Vivekanand. The anti-national students-teacher nexus in such left dominated Indian universities are already in their final days it appears as the awaken Indian student community has taken charge and set the new narrative.
